Questions to Ask Before Scheduling HVAC Service

When you’re ready to schedule any type of HVAC service, from installation to repairs, there are a few questions you should ask before selecting a contractor. These key questions will help you know that you’re making a smart decision about who you are partnering with for your HVAC needs.

Our team is here to help with your HVAC service in Satellite Beach, FL. We encourage you to ask us questions about the services you plan to schedule, our team certifications, and everything in between. You can keep reading to learn more about some of the questions that we suggest you ask any HVAC contractor when you need service.

“Are You Licensed and Insured?”

HVAC professionals are required to have certain certifications to work on air conditioners, heaters, and electrical. In addition to having the correct certifications and education, you also want to make sure that a contractor has the appropriate insurance for their team members who will be working in your home.

You should never be embarrassed to ask questions about licensing and insurance. By doing so, you’re protecting your home and family from unnecessary risks. If an HVAC contractor is not licensed and insured, you should not partner with them to do any work on your home.

“Do You Offer a Service Guarantee?”

Ask contractors if they offer any kind of service guarantee on their work or if there are warranties on systems and even individual components during repairs. Most contractors will offer a service guarantee for a certain period of time following the work that they do to your system.

For example, if you call us because of a compressor issue and we visit your home to fix it only for you to have the same problems again the next week, our team will come back out and look at your unit again without charging another service fee. HVAC systems and individual components often have their own warranties as well. You want to be aware of any time periods for parts and labor so that you can call your HVAC contractor back within a timely manner if something isn’t right

“Is There a Price Estimate for Service?”

No one should ever complete service on your HVAC system without first giving you a price estimate. When our team visits your home, we will first assess your system’s needs. After we determine what repairs or replacements need to be done, we will get quotes on the parts and provide you with those numbers in addition to our labor costs.

You should always know how much you’re spending before committing to a project. It should be a red flag if a contractor says they are not sure how much a project will cost to complete. This can leave you with a much more expensive bill than you planned on paying.

“Do You Offer Emergency Services?”

You really want to have one HVAC contractor that you partner with over the life of your HVAC system. This allows our team to get to know your home, system, and family. If there are patterns in repair and service needs, our team can be aware of them. Part of having an HVAC partner means knowing that we are there to help around the clock, even when you need an emergency appointment.

After all, HVAC problems rarely happen at convenient times. You may have a service need in the middle of the night or over a weekend. Make sure you partner with a contractor who will be there when you need them most – not just during regular operating hours.
