4 Questions to Ask Before Scheduling HVAC Service

If you need to schedule HVAC service, you may be looking for an HVAC contractor in Melbourne, FL. Our team is here to help with all of your heating and cooling needs. But how do you know if we are the right team for your home and family?

You can keep reading to learn the four questions that we suggest you ask before scheduling an HVAC service with any contractor. Yes, we even encourage you to ask these questions to our team! We are always happy to answer, and we are confident that we can meet and exceed all of your expectations.

“Are You Licensed and Insured?”

Not just anyone is qualified to work on a residential HVAC system. In fact, the proper licensing and certification is required by law. And the licenses that our technicians earn are not good for life. Instead, they need to be regularly renewed by proving that we continue learning about our industry. After all, things change all the time, and it is important for us to be up-to-date on the latest industry standards.

Insurance is the second part of this question. Before a contractor works on your home, they should have the proper insurance to protect you in the event of an accident in your home. Asking for licensing documentation and insurance is a great first step before hiring any HVAC team.

“What Is Included in the Service Quote?”

Once you have chosen an HVAC contractor, the next step is getting a quote for service. It is not unreasonable to expect a technician to have to return to their office and look up the current prices for particular parts or materials that they need to complete your project. But once they return a quote, it should include parts and labor.

You should know exactly how much you can expect to spend on any HVAC projects without any surprises. Of course, things can change once we get into the middle of a project. If that happens, we will talk to you about any changes we need to make to the original quote, explain why, and get your input before proceeding forward.

“How Long Will the Project Take?”

You also deserve to know how long a project will take. How many days or weeks will it be before a technician can return to your home to begin the project? Once the project begins, how long will it take to complete? Ideally, these terms should be included in your service contract. Never sign any kind of service agreement if there is no clear service timeline.

“Do You Offer a Service Guarantee?”

The final question you should ask an HVAC technician is about service guarantees. After all, you are relying on our expertise to fix or install an HVAC system. If you have been struggling with a particular issue and a technician comes out to fix it, you shouldn’t experience the same issue again a week or month later.

Most HVAC companies will offer some sort of guarantee on their work so that you can call within a certain time if you have concerns. It’s also a good idea to know about any warranties for the parts and components being installed. Systems or components often come with their own warranties aside from any service guarantee.
